Arsenal set a significant summer transfer budget for team rebuild

Published

me

Arsenal are willing to spend about £250 million on at least five new signings this summer. This gives Mikel Arteta and director Edu the opportunity to rebuild the squad after finishing eighth in the PL in 2020/21. Arsenal will not play in Europe next season as a result of their worst league performance in 25 years. But the club will be free to make significant changes in the transfer market. According to 90min, The Kroenkes have given Arsenal over a quarter of a billion dollars to spend on new players.

The Arteta team rebuild, directed by Edu, will target young players with the ability to boost their value

The growth of players into more valuable assets is a major reason for Kroenkes’ desire to spend big.

Arsenal now need a new goalkeeper, central defender, full-back, and two central midfielders.

Given the club’s desire to trade some players, which might also help earn finances, there could be more.

The Gunners are currently most keen on:

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale

Brighton center-back Ben White

Norwich right-back Max Aarons

And midfield trio:

Albert Sambi Lokonga ( Anderlecht)

Yves Bissouma (Brighton)

James Maddison (Leicester)

Importantly, every one of them is under the age of 25. And they also meet the requirements of the specific recruitment policy.

Emi Buendia, 24, was also a past target before joining Aston Villa instead.

ArsenalTimes disclosed earlier this month that Mikel Arteta intends to sell 30-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer rather than grant him a new deal.

This goes to prove the club’s desire to reduce the age of the squad and guarantee that players keep good future sell-on value.

Fans demand William Saliba inclusion

William Saliba kept his 16th clean sheet of the season for Marseille on Sunday evening and Arsenal fans are demanding he plays next season.

The future of Saliba continues to hang in the balance,
with Arteta previously remaining coy on whether Saliba will be a part of his plans in 2022-23.

But this weekend saw the Frenchman keep his 16th cleansheet of the season while on loan in Ligue 1.

It is unlikely that Saliba will want to remain at the Emirates to just be sent out on loan again,
having spoken of how he has enjoyed his time in Marseille.

So after this latest display, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to once again discuss the player’s future, with many suggesting that he should make up part of Arteta’s back line next season.

Nicolas Pepe drops Arsenal team news hint over Mikel Arteta’s starting XI vs Southampton

Arsenal take on Ralph Hasenhüttl’s struggling Southampton side this afternoon in the hope of getting back to winning ways.

A combination of poor technical security within the middle third,
the inability to win second balls and questionable in-game management from manager Mikel Arteta prevented the Gunners from taking a single point against both Manchester United and Everton.

It’s therefore imperative that the north Londoners produce a desirable performance and clinch three points at the Emirates today.

Whilst Arteta will be slightly concerned with the goals that have been conceded of late,
the major worries still revolve around the frontline and the lack of consistent attacking patterns.

Arsenal currently sit on a negative four-goal difference,
with senior strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette both struggling with their form.

Despite this, £72 million club-record signing Nicolas Pepe has appeared to drop down the pecking order,
with Eddie Nketiah given minutes ahead of him from the bench in Arsenal’s last two games,
despite the fact that the 22-year-old Englishman has rejected a new deal.

Whilst it’s clearly apparent that Pepe struggles to fit into a system that adopts positional play and instead is tailored to a team that plays counter-attacking football, the former Lille forward has demonstrated the ability to influence proceedings in moments through either goals or assists in Arsenal colours.

Could Nico Pepe make the difference?

Given the fact that Arsenal are struggling within the final third,
perhaps he could be the man to make the difference.

The Gunners target ex-Liverpool star and Richarlison, meanwhile Newcastle United are keen to sign Arsenal midfielder, Mo Elneny

Arsenal target Richarlison

Arsenal still have Everton in the crosshairs but the Gunners may have switched targets from Dominic Calvert-Lewin…

Mikel Arteta prioritised a move for the England striker initially last summer before rumours of their interest surfaced again last month.

Now, though, it is claimed Arsenal want a different Everton forward: Richarlison.

The Brazilian was in fine form in the Toffees win over Arsenal on Monday night and Fichajes reckons that performance has taken him to the top of Arteta’s wishlist.

The Gunners want Wijnaldum

Arsenal are also said to be in the running to being Georginio Wijnaldum back to the Premier League.

Wiljnaldum left Liverpool last summer to join PSG on a free transfer but his big move hasn’t gone to plan,
with the Holland star unable to pin down a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s XI.

Sky Sports says PSG are open to letting Wijnaldum leave the Parc Des Princes on loan in January,
with Arsenal ‘thought to be an option’.

Marca also suggests Newcastle as a possible destination should the midfielder wish to return to the club he left to join Liverpool in 2016.

Newcastle after Elneny

Of course, Newcastle have other irons in the fire…

The Magpies have been linked with 427 players since their takeover but the Daily Mail says their list has been narrowed down to five.
